About Christine Dimanche

Vast knowledge in Her Field

Christine Dimanche earned a Master’s in Biology and Physical Education at Albert-Ludwig University in Germany. She also studied at the University of Oregon, where she received a Master’s in Health and Fitness Management. After graduating, she went on to teach health and wellness related courses such as PE, fitness, nutrition, and biology, using her expertise to inform students in four different countries, including Germany, France, USA, and Canada.

An Active Career in Health Sciences

Professor Dimanche has not only had her focus on Health and Wellness but Biology as well, utilizing both in teaching different courses. Fit for Life was a course she led for eight years which helped train older adults and individuals dealing with chronic disease. As she grew accustomed to teaching the older population, she found a good fit in educating them on the biology of the changing body. In her courses, she not only incorporates her education and training but her lifestyle—her love of being active, nature, and exploration of other countries and cultures.

A Teacher of All Ages

Professor Dimanche began teaching in 1991 with varying experience in Health and Wellness. Having lived in four countries and being fluent in three languages, she has a wealth of experience in communicating with different populations. In her teaching career, she has taught all ages, from toddlers to older adults. She has lectured on Nutrition and Biology for George Brown College since 2017. Besides the numerous courses she teaches for The LIFE Institute, she also teaches a fitness course for older adults. The course was previously offered at Mattamy Center and is taught through Zoom via Ryerson University. When discussing her interaction with students, Dimanche expresses her joy in being a part of The LIFE institute.

"It is such a delight for an instructor to see how students are interested in science topics, how they absorb information, how they apply it by asking great questions. I feel fortunate that I could share my knowledge and enthusiasm with such an appreciative
group. I support the idea of lifelong learning. I will certainly become a member of LIFE some years down the road.”

Joining The LIFE Institute as an Instructor

Professor Dimanche began teaching at The LIFE Institute in 2016 just after arriving in Toronto, being introduced to the program by a former board member.

"I grew into it; it became a niche for me to develop professionally. The best and the most enjoyable part is interacting with the students! I realized that I have something to offer to this group and they give me a lot of positive energy and feedback," says Dimanche.

When professor Dimanche is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and adult children.

She maintains her joy for life by dancing, cooking, and playing sports.
